26th January saw the installation of a new production line into our Hungarian facility

01 April 2004

  • 2 Gildermeister multi spindle machines.
  • 1 Lidkopping centreless grinder.
  • 1 Herminghausen centreless grinder and an ultrasonic cleaning unit.

This equipment extends our capacity for turned and ground spindles for the domestic appliance and power hand tool markets. Orders have already been received to occupy these machine tools for the next 3 years.

At the end of April another production bay of 500 sq metres will be completed and will immediately be filled with an in line production unit, with the capacity to turn, gear cut, knurl roll and heat-treat 1,500,000 armature shafts a year.

Gear cutting and induction hardening are new disciplines for our Hungarian plant and significantly increase the range of armature shafts we can now quote for.

At present this new equipment is booked under a 3 year contract, but it is expected that once the technology is installed and operating efficiently that there will be huge interest in this unmanned facility.

Doherty Hungary is now TS16949 approved and product quality is never taken for granted. We are also very aware of our responsibility to the environment and in 2003 we completed the construction of a specially insulated centre for the storage of all company waste and oil products.

Our approval to ISO 14001 is testament to the care and commitment we are prepared to make to keep the work site clean and free from contamination.
