Automotive in the focus

In this issue we would like to give you a short overview about the recent automotive investments in Hungary.
As you probably all know there are three major automotive investments in Hungary. Mercedes in Kecskemét, Audi in Gyor and Opel in Szentgotthárd.

Opel’s 500 million euro factory expansion investment is being realised according to the plan, production will start in 2012 and as a result of that it is going to be its biggest engine plant by 2015. Opel Ampera which is an electric car and is produced in the U.S.A at the moment will be introduced on the Hungarian market in 2012.

Audi in Gyor constructs a new press shop which was previously not typical in Hungary so a new profile for the automotive industry will appear in our country. It is a 900 million euro investment.
3 new models will be introduced from the beginning of 2013, the TT roadster, A3 Cabriolet and another A3 derivative, the RS3.

Mercedes invests 800 million euro to a new production facility in Kecskemét where it will manufacture its smaller models. Daimler plans to manufacture its first pre-production test car at the plant this fall and begin market production in the first quarter of 2012.

Interview with Mr. József Bakos, Shift leader, Turning section

In this newsletter we ask Mr. József Bakos, the 41 year old shift leader, Last Year’s Employee of the Year.

- Last Year you won the „Employee of the year” award. What do you think what was the reason for that? Do you think will you win it this year as well?
- I was surprised. I think it was thanked to the fact that I do my tasks for which I’m responsible for, I’m reliable and I have good relationship with my colleagues and my bosses. This year I would nominate József Farkas, setter from the turning section, because of his excellent first offs and reliability.
- You’ve been working at Doherty Hungary for a long time. What changes have you witnessed?
- I’ve experienced a lot of changes that showed improvement. The most changes happened last year and I consider them as development.
- Do you like working here? If yes, please explain why!
- Yes, I do. There is a good atmosphere here; we have good team spirit and relations with our bosses.
- You work in three shifts. With this timing how do you live your everyday life?
- It is not easy, especially during school period but we can manage it. This is not a disadvantage for the family in the end.
- What do you do in your free time?
- I take part on family programs, play football with the friends, sometimes I swim.
- If you could change job with somebody from the company, with whom would you change and why?
- With Jim Doherty because he can direct a company like this at a young age and despite the crisis he could make it successful.
- What do you think what will the company be like in three years time?
- I hope it is going to be still successful, and can keep the current customers and gain some more new.
